Terry Turner, senior writer for RetireGuide, has earned a certificate as a Financial Wellness Facilitator through the National Wellness Institute and the Foundation for Financial Wellness.

Turner is excited to take what he’s learned from the certificate to inform his readers on the proper tools for financial success.

“The course work toward this certificate better prepared me for what a lot of our readers are going through and struggling with as they worry about retirement,” said Terry. “I hope to apply what I’ve learned to help them find a path toward their retirement.”

The Foundation for Financial Wellness is a nonprofit that provides courses and educational information on maintaining healthy finances. The coursework involves behavior change and financial techniques to help people understand money management.

“Financial wellness differs from financial literacy,” Turner said. “You can be literate in all aspects of investments, taxes and savings, but you have to establish and maintain your financial wellness to make sure you keep your plans on track.”

“Financial wellness also focuses on your financial health – how your financial picture affects your stress levels, your mental and physical health,” Turner added. “Getting that aspect of your financial life under control lets you focus on the nuts and bolts of building a retirement plan rather than worrying day-to-day about your finances.”

The National Wellness Institute course includes comprehensive strategies to maintaining individual financial wellness, investing and financial risk.

Turner, an Emmy award-winning writer and journalist with more than 30 years of experience, also holds six Health Literacy certificates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

He is also a member of the National Wellness Institute, the American Medical Writers Association, the Alliance of Professional Health Advocates, an Associate Member of the American Bar Association, and a previous member of the White House Correspondents Association.
